Somehow this State of Missouri website is just too cheery — doesn’t reflect the 1930’s depression-era statistics that are closing in… but perhaps I am just attracted by those great WPA photos. Plus it is rough when you look at the counties where there are no jobs–

No I am not making this up — headline in a USA Today article, “Pentagon envisions spaceship troopers.” Of course the DOD has been ramping up for space warfare (dominance is their term of choice) for years. However, given the current financial situation perhaps the money would be better spent tilting at windmills.
