The friendly upbeat folks at the CBO, the Congressional Budget Office, will keep you from sleeping tonight if you read a few of the reports on the economy that have been released in the last few weeks…
“…recent developments in financial markets represent a severe credit crunch, which could have devastating effects on the U.S. and [...]

From the White House Press Gaggle:
Q Well how would you — sorry, how would you characterize the relationship these days between Secretary Powell and President Bush?
MS. PERINO: It’s very good. Yes. Last thing I knew — I think that the President was just over at his house for dinner [...]

Spaceship Troopers
October 15th, 2008 · No Comments

But [...]

Why is this not funny? Take a gander at the National Security and Nuclear Weapons in the 21st Century report issued last month by DOE and DOD then read the reaction at the FAS website.

Windows to the World

This Press release on housing from the Bureau of the Census seems quite timely. It is reassuring (!?) that…
“Slightly less than 3 million homes had broken windows; slightly more than 3 million had bars on the windows.”
The full report– 2007 American Housing Survey (AHS) is online.

Normally we at the docs blog ignore current politics, but a couple of stories drew our attention this week. First a long article in The Nation and a similar article in the Washington Post on the POW history of Senator John McCain (Senator Barrack Obama also faced similar excoriations).
Considering the furor wrought during the 2004 [...]
